The above 361 acupuncture points are those canonised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in a series of meetings between 1982 & 19891.

Contrary to popular opinion, the evidence of acupuncture usage is older in Europe than it is in China2 but the foundations of modern acupuncture were indeed laid in China during the Ming Dynasty by ‘The Great Compendium of Acupuncture & Moxibustion3.

Modern identification of acupuncture points has focussed on the electrical impedance of underlying physiology. A review of the evidence is suggestive, if not overwhelming4.
