Diverticular disease is a disease that related with large intestine or colon. Small bulges or pockets forms in the large intestine lining is the sign that you have this disorder. When this small bulges or pockets becoming inflamed or get infected then it is called diverticulitis.

SYMPTOMS


You may have diverticulitis disease if you have any pain that could be constant and persistent during few days. You may feel the pain at the lower leff side of your abdomen. Other sign or symptom indicating that you may have this disease are nausea, vomiting, fever, tenderness at abdomen, and constipation.

CAUSES


Although not clear what is the cause of diverticulitis, it is believe that low fiber diet could lead to this disease. Because having low fiber diet can induce the formation of the sacs inside colon. High fiber diet can make the stool become soft which in turn make the bowel movement become easy. Low fiber in your food will make you have constipation. If you have constipation you will have difficulties in your bowel movement and need extra pressure. This extra pressure can cause the forming of diverticula. Even worse, having constipation will lead to the infection of the sacs because left fecal matter in your colon.

Diverticulitis is associated with pain in the stomach, Therefore, the way acupuncturist treat the disease is by needling some acupoints around the stomach. Not only concentrating with the disease alone, acupuncturist also try to cure the disease by improving blood circulation and sometime also strengthen the function of the spleen. Some acupuncturist will carefully palpating the stomach of their patient, because one of the sign of diverticulitis is the tenderness in abdomen. This tender part usually are responding well to the needling process.
