Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a disorder that make the sufferer tend to have unreasonable worry about everythings in their daily life. This worry is also persistent and sometimes excessive. The patient of this disorder sometimes also expecting the worst even when there is no logical reason. People are said to have this disorder if they have worrines most of the days and has been lasting for at least six months. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) can affect the sufferer both physically and mentally.

SYMPTOMS


Symptoms of this disorder vary among people who have this disorder. Some people may only have one or two symptoms while other people might have many symptoms at once. There are symptoms that categorized as Psychological symptoms and there are symptoms that categorized as Physical symptoms. Symptom of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) that are categorized as Psychological symptoms are restlessness, dread sense, difficult to concentrate, and irritability. . Symptom of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) that are categorized as Physical symptoms are dizzy, feeling tired, dry mouth, and excessive sweating.

CAUSES


The cause of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is not clearly known. It is said that genetics may play a role of this disorder. The genetics factors mean that this diorder may be passed from parents to their kids. Other possible cause of GAD is brain chemistry. The problem with neurotransmitter can affect the nerve cell connections, which in turn will affecting the patients mood and anxiety. Other thing that is considered as the cause of the GAD would be environmental factors. Stressful events like divorce, death of loved one may contribute to the GAD.

Acupuncture Treatment For Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is regarded as psychiatric illnesses. This disorder is closely related with the brain function. Therefore, acupuncture method that is used to treat the disorder is scalp acupuncture. Two of the acupoints that is aimed in this treatment are point between Yintang (M-HN-3) and Shangxing (DU-23) and Shenting (DU-24) and also point between Taiyang (M-HN-9) and Tianchong (GB-9) and Shuaigu (GB-8). Treatment for this disorder is using high-frequency continuous electric waves. Treatment is given once per week lasting for about 45 minutes. The long of treatment depending on the symptom that may exist. If symptom still persist, then the treatment will still be given. Please note that each patient will receive different course of treatment. It will depend on the age, patient’s condition, and the symptoms.
