Heart attack is a condition where the blood supply to our heart muscle is reduced or even stopped completely. No blood supply means no oxygen, and our heart muscle simply can do nothing without oxygen. The reduced or stopped blood flow happen because the blood vessel that supply blood to the heart muscle become narrowed or blocked. This blood vessel that supply the blood to the heart muscle is also known as coronary arteries. This blood vessel can be narrowed due to the buildup fat, cholesterol and other substances. These all material that can make blood vessel become narrow is called as plaque.

SYMPTOMS


Heart attack symptoms vary from one person to another. The most common signs are:
Every person is unique, therefore the symptom of the heart attack also vary among person. However, there are most common sign of the heart attack, which are :
1. Chest pain (feeling of tightness, heaviness, pain, or burning in our chest)
2. Pain in arms, neck, jaw, back, or stomach
3. Sweating
4. Light-headed feeling
5. Shortness of breath
6. Nausea and or vomiting

CAUSES


Heart attack happen because the blood supply to the heart muscle become reduced or stopped. Without proper supply of oxygen-rich blood, the muscle can be damaged or die, which unfortunately is irreversible damage. If damaged portion of the heart muscle is large, then the heart can stop beating (cardiac arrest), which resulting in death. This reduced or stopped blood flow is happen due to Coronary Heart Disease. Coronary Heart Disease or CHD is a condition where the blood vessel / coronary arteries become narrow or blocked by a substance called plaque.

Acupuncture Treatment For Heart Attack

In treating someone with heart attack, there are 2 important acupoints that really play a role. The 2 acupoints are Yin Tang and Cheng Jiang. The stimulation of these acupoints first begin with an acupressure for 20 minutes. After giving acupressure stimulation, treatment continued with needle insertion at the 2 acupoints. Patient will receive a nonstop 1 minute of stimulation. Stimulation given is then repeated every 5 minutes. After stimulation, the needles will stay on its place for 20 minutes. Please note, that this treatment is aiming to survive the patient with heart attack, so rather than improving the heart, this treatment is actually to improve the vital sign and functions of the patient.
