Lupus is an autoimmune disease. It is considered as silent disease, as the sufferer may not know that they have this disease. This autoimmune disease can damage many part of the body like skin, joints and organs inside the body. It is considered as a chronic disease. In lupus, the immune system can not differentiate which is the healthy tissue and which is the invaders of our body.

The symptoms of lupus usually start in early adulthood. Like many other autoimmune disease, the symptom of lupus also can come and go, therefore the early sign of lupus may go unnoticed. And also the early sign of lupus may similar to many other health disorder. The symptoms of lupus are fatigue, unexplained fever,hair loss, skin rash, pulmonary problems, kidney disease, swollen joints, gastrointestinal problems, thyroid disease, dry mouth, and dry eyes. Other symptom of lupus could be muscle pain, chest pain, osteoporosis, and depression.

CAUSES

 


There are many disease that even scientist can not exactly know why it is happen. The cause of lupus is also not known exactly. But it is strongly believe that lupus may be caused by gene factors. People that born with certain gene tend to have lupus at some point of their life. Having this gene does not mean that they will certainly get lupus. Having the gene plus some triggering factors like viral infections can be the trigger point of having this disease.

Acupuncture Treatment For Lupus

Lupus is a very complex disorder. It is not clearly known what is the cause of this disorder. Like the treatment for cancer, acupuncture treatment for this disorder is actually not to cure the disease, but instead to reduce the symptoms, some of which are pain and fatigue. The acupuncture treatment for this disorder are involving some acupoints. There are 2 sets of acupoints. First set are para-spinal points at thoracic levels T-3, T-7, and T-11. Other acupoints included in the first set are LI4, GV14, KI7, and SP6. The second set of acupoints would be para-spinal points T-5, T-9 and L-1 levels, and GB-20, MH-5 and ST-36. The treatment will be given up to 10 sessions during 5 weeks.
