Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a female genital infection. It is a serious complication of sexually transmitted diseases in women and if left untreated, can lead to infertility and permanent damage to the ovaries, fallopian tubes and other parts of the female reproductive system.  However, it is preventable.

-Heavy Vaginal discharge
– Unpleasant odour with vaginal discharge
– Irregular menstrual period
– Painful sex
– Fever
– Painful urinating
– Difficulty urinating

CAUSES

 


Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is caused by a bacterial infection which develops in the female upper genital tract.  The bacteria spreads from the vagina or cervix into the womb, Fallopian tubes and ovaries. Many types of bacteria can be involved so it is common for a broad spectrum antibiotic to be used to treat the condition.

Acupuncture Treatment For Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

PID is easy to cure with the right antibiotics. However, acupuncture combined with herbal medicine can help to cure (PID).  The treatment of PID  targets the acupoints of SP6 (Sanyinjiao), CV6 (Qihai), CV4 (Guanyuan), ST29 (Guilai), SP10 (Xuehai), SP9 (Yinlingquan). The additional points would be CV3 (Zhongji), ST28 (Shuidao), KD3 (Taixi), KD7 (Fuliu), BL23 (Shenshu). Needling techinque applied is reinforcing and reducing. This technique is applied until sense of de qi felt. After which, the needles  stay in place for thirty minutes. Manipulation is done manually and repeated every ten minutes. The treatment is given every day for seven days and then there is a break for three days. The treatment will need 70 days with a total treatment of 49 sessions.
