Peyronie disease affects the male penis. It is also called as induratio penis plastica and is a chronic inflammation of the tunica albuginea which is connective tissue. This disorder affects around 5% of men. Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment.

The most obvious symptom of this condition is pain. The symptom may develop slowly or very fast during the night. A plaque of connective tissue becomes hardened and in turn reduces the flexibility of the penis. The hardened plaque not only causes  pain, but  can also make the penis bend or arc during erection. The bending of the penis can be permanent.

CAUSES

 


The most possible cause of this disease is repeated injury to the penis. This can happen during sex, sport activity, or an accident. As the injured tissue heals  scar tissue forms, This irregular  scar tissue causes curvature of the penis.

Acupuncture Treatment For Peyronie’s Disease

According to Chinese medicine treatment practice, Peyronie’s disease is a manifestation of phlegm and stasis of jing. The stasis of jing equal to the stasis of blood in uterus for women. To treat this problem, the acupuncturist follows this treatment pattern :
1. Kidney Yang Deficiency :
SI-3 on the left with BL-62 on the right (Du Mai), BL-23, Du-20, Ren-6, Ren-4, Ren-3, KI-3.
2. Kidney Yin deficiency :
SI-3 on the left with BL-62 on the right (Du Mai), BL-23, Du-20, Ren-6, Ren-4, Ren-3, KI-3, LU-7 with KI-6 (Ren Mai).
3. Damp heat in the lower burner :
SP-4 on the left with P-6 on the right (Chong Mai), LIV-5, SP-9, SP-6, Ren-2, Ren-3, LIV-1, LIV-3.
4. Damp heat in liver channel :
SP-4 on the left with P-6 on the right (Chong Mai), LIV-5, SP-9, SP-6, Ren-2, Ren-3, LIV-1, LIV-3.
5. Liver blood deficiency :
LU-7 on the left with KI-6 on the right (Ren Mai), BL-23, Ren-4, LIV-8, Ren-3, ST-36, SP-6.
6. Heart and gall bladder qi deficiency :
SI-3 on the left with BL-62 on the right (Du Mai), HE-7, GB-40, Ren-4, Du-20, ST-36, SP-6,
7. Heart Blood Deficiency :
SI-3 on the left with BL-62 on the right (Du Mai), HE-7, HE-5, Du-24, Ren-15, Ren-4, Ren-3, BL-15, SP-6.
8. Statis of Jing and phlegm :
SP-4 on the left with P-6 on the right (Chong Mai), Ren-3, LIV-5, SP-10, BL-34, ST-40, SP-9.
