Smoking is a bad habit. Smoking refers to the inhalation of a burnt substance usually dried tobacco leaves. The dried leaves are placed in paper which is then rolled to make a cylindrical shape. This cylinder shaped contained with dried tobacco leaves is called a cigarette. Smoking is practised as a recreational activity.

– Chest pain

– Hoarseness
– Sore throat
– Dry mouth
– Many types of cancer particularly of the mouth and respiratory tract

Although smoking has been proven to cause cancer and other serious diseases, many people still hang on to their smoking habit. This is because the chemical contents of the cigarette are  addictive.  Therefore, it is sometimes very difficult for people to stop smoking.

Acupuncture Treatment For Smoking

Smoking is an unhealthy and antisocial habit, so everyone who smokes should consider giving up. However, stopping smoking is not easy. Fortunately, acupuncture can help smokers to quit. The method used by acupuncturists to treat the smoker is by ear acupuncture. Ear acupuncture kits are made of metal with additional adhesive paper to keep it in place is placed on both ears alternately each week. This treatment lasts for about 4 weeks. The acupoints chosen for this treatment are ‘shinmun’, ‘lung’, ‘chim’, and ‘oral’ points, which are known to be effective in smoking cessation.
