Snoring is the vibration respiratory structures and the resulting sound due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. In some cases the sound can be soft but mostly it is loud and unpleasant. Snoring may be a sign or first alarm of obstructive sleep apnoea. Research suggests that snoring is one of the factors of sleep deprivation.

Snoring is the loud sound produced by the sufferer during sleep. Snoring can lead to other disorder such as drowsiness, irritability, lack of focus and decreased libido. Unfortunately, it not only disturbs the snorer, but can also disturb the sleeping partner.

CAUSES

 


Causes of  Snoring :

– Weakness of the throat
– Poorly positioned jaw
– Obesity
– Air passage obstruction
– Alcohol abuse
– Certain medications

Snoring is considered to be a sleep disorder that could be a sign of a more serious condition. In treatment, Traditional Chinese medicine views the human body as a whole unity. Therefore, before performing treatment, the acupuncturist must carefully diagnose the condition of each patient.  Snoring is regarded as being caused by the following factors :
1. Lung Qi deficiency
2. Kidney deficiency
3. Spleen qi defiency
4. Liver qi deficiency
Based on the diagnosis, the acupuncturist will establish the treatment method and course to treat the snoring disorder.
