Morning sickness is a sickness that happen during pregnancy. During pregnancy, usually in the first trimester (1-12 weeks) woman often suffer from nausea and vomiting .
Morning sickness affects about 70-80% of all pregnant women to some extent. Taking prenatal vitamins before pregnancy may decrease the risk.
The symptom of nausea and vomiting usually occur between week 4 and 16 during pregnancy. However, some women still have the symptoms after week 20 of their pregnancy. A more severe condition is known as hyperemesis gravidarum and can result in weight loss.
The cause of morning sickness is not clearly known. However, it may be caused by change in hormone levels during pregnancy.
