SYMPTOMS

Muscular dystrophy starts in early childhood or in the teenage years. Other symptoms include curvature of the spine, droopy eyelids, heart problems, trouble breathing or swallowing, and vision disturbances.

CAUSES

Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder caused by a mutation in x chromosome. Different types of muscular dystrophy have a different set of mutations. This genetic mutation make the body unable to produce dystrophin.  Dystrophin is a protein essential for building and repairing muscles. Without this protein, muscles are unable to work correctly.
