Acupuncture Treatment For Social Anxiety

Acupuncture treatment is proven to be an effective treatment for social anxiety disorder. It is a popular treatment as acupuncture usually has little or no side effects compared to modern drug therapies. Treatment for social anxiety disorder focuses on acupoints of Baihui (DU-20), Neiguan (P-6), Shenmen (HT-7), Tiachong (LIV-3), Sanyinjiao (SP-6), Zusanli (ST-36). Those acupoints are body acupoints. For this disorder, treatment is not only given with body acupuncture, but also with ear acupuncture. The aim of ear acupuncture is to correct the imbalance and dysfunction of the brain regions. Ear acupuncture stimulates areas between Yintang (M-HN-3) and Shenting (DU-24) and Shangxing (DU-23), and between Taiyang (M-HN-9) and Shuaigu (GB-8) and Tianchong (GB-9).
